Evergreen Wellness® Fitness Coach Jaime Brenkus explains how to the perfect bike seat adjustment for the perfect ride.

Adjusting your bike seat can mean the difference between a fun leisurely bike ride with no achiness after – or, finishing your ride with a sharp pain in the knees. Whether you’re on a regular bike or a stationary bike, it’s important to make the correct seat adjustments to save your knees.

The proper height is when you’re looking at your leg and its downward movement. It should be in the 6 o’clock position with a slight bend.  Now, that’s perfect.

Now, if the seat is too high, you can barely reach the pedal, we are putting yourself at risk for hyper extending the knee. Now if the seat is too low, this too will be stressful for your knee, since you’re generating most of your power in this position – leaving your knee very vulnerable to injury.

Now biking is an excellent non-impact exercise. Let’s go to it.
